I've been thinking about this lately... I was thinking it would be cool to be able to trigger samples during a show. (just like sound clips or whatnot). I understand the technical aspect of it and everything, I was just wondering if anybody has any ideas for doing it more cost effectively than I am planning to. I pretty much was thinking like an Octapad or some modern equivalent running into a sampler I suppose. Of course, I would love to have one of the Roland SPD sampling pads. I understand MIDI and triggers and everything, I just have no experience with samplers. I should be able to record a little clip and trigger it through MIDI with something like the Octapad, correct? I've been looking for the cheapest one I can sue that will work. I understand I could also use a pad setup with trigger outs and use a MIDI brain. Is anybody else doing this? Thanks.

Yeah...looks like i might as well do it right and start saving...

if you are going to trigger anything where velocity sensitivity is not needed, build your own trigger and use a trigger-to-midi converter or just a standard electronic drum module into your midi stuff. its cheap and it works.
