I do a lot of recording out at the storage place where my band practices (mostly because it is too loud to do in my townhouse). I also do a fair amount of mixing beack at my place. So I am looking for an external hard drive as a go-between. It doesn't need to be large (GB-wise), since it will quickly be dumped onto my home computer. It needs to have USB connectivity, and firewire would be nice as well. I'm also not too concerned about bulkiness. Any suggestions in the sub-$100 range?

Probably the cheapest solution would be an internal hd in an external caddy. New Egg sells them online. I found 30G HDs for $50, and enclosures for $20 and up. You can find lots of options (USB, IDE, Firewire etc).

Geez leave the guy a link at least!

This may be a dumb question, but can any USB keys hold a gig or so?

I use the removable bays. They are $15 at compusa so I got two and put them in my audio and home computers. Now I just swap my 200 gig music drive wherever.

USB drives suck in my experience.
