Cheap condensor Mics

Ive noticed some cheap condensor mics that musicians friend is selling in the less than $100 range. Such as the Nady and the MXL 990 for $69.99. Are these condensor mics a waste of time and money or what? Im an amatuer at recording to say the least and right now I have been using my live mics for vocals (SM48, SM58). Im no different than most musicians....POOR, and was wondering if these cheap condensor mics are worth messing with.
Thanks

For a little bit (around $80) you could get a Studio Projects B1,
which is supposed to be a very nice sounding LD condenser.
Their website is www.studioprojectsusa.com and they have a list
of dealers there too.
It's a good idea to have at least one condenser as that will expand the range of tonal possibilities available.

Do you have a mixer and/or mic pre with phantom power?
Normally that is required for condenser microphones.

What Chessparov said- Studio Projects B-1. The reason- all of these cheap condensers are made in China and marketed in the U.S. and Europe. Studio Projects not only designs them here, but actually does some quality control on them. In addition, SP's customer support is top notch...Richie
P.S.- Just make sure you have phantom power to feed this puppy.

great...thanks guys I'll check em out.
The 48V phantom power is no problem
I have a mic pre-amp that will do it and my mixer has built in
phantom power. Thanks for the heads up tho.
