Son of Yoda
So I worked out how to do it with the markers etc. as advised in the other thread...

Now I have a tune which goes from 105BPM 7/8 time to 85BPM 4/4 time at a point. It's an abrupt change. I'd recorded the first bit at 105 7/8 and it was getting a bit difficult to record the second bit because of the change itself, so I figured I'd just leave a couple of bars space, and start the new section at 85 & 4/4, get it recorded, and then slide the first section up to it later.

This is where the problems started. It seems whenever I move any of the WAV tracks along the time line now, their playback rate changes. When I decided that the change was just too abrubt and I needed to do a slowdown over about a second, just before the 85 4/4 section started, it got even more difficult.

I've now got everything lined up and at the right speeds again (6 tracks plus MIDI drum track which was unaffected) but why the fuck is Reaper changing the playback speed all the time? Why will it just not let me move tracks up and down the timeline without doing this? I've spent ages continually resetting the individual track speeds to 1.0 and then relining things up as they tend to shift about a bit.

I assume I have got something set somewhere that's causing this and I must be able to disable it.... any clues? The tune will go back to 105 7/8 later and I'm dreading the experience already...

Cheers

Try changing the Project settings Timebase for Items/tempo to 'Time'?

Don't know if this is what you exactly need but?? :guitar:

The issue is that you want your MIDI items' timebase set to Beats, while the audio is set to Time so just changing the default is going to fuck up one or the other. You get to choose which default you want, and then override it for the items that you don't want to follow that rule. :) Probably best to not change the Project default at this point. Select all of the audio items and then right click on one of them. I'm not looking at it right now, but somewhere in there is the option to set the timebase for the selected items.

Yeah, I thought as much re. the project settings. It seems it shouldn't be a hard thing to do and Reaper does manage to continually surprise me with the level of thought they put into this program, so I'll get right clicking and see what I can find...

Thanks gents

Cheers
