My daughter happens to be visiting this week all the way from Los Angeles. We took and hour or so to record something that she had written 5 years ago. It’s a fairly rough mix consisting of her playing acoustic guitar, (Yarii DY55), recorded with the Studio Project C4s in an X-Y pattern. There are two vocal tracks here also recorded after the acoustic guitar tracks were done. I wasn’t overly pleased with the first vocal that was recorded with a Carvin LCD, so I had her do the vocal again using a CAD E100-2. I must say that I was astonished when I brought up both vocal tracks and noticed how the vocal timing was almost to perfection considering the fact that when we re-tracked the second vocal she was only monitoring the acoustic guitar tracks.

I attempted adding a touch of piano and bass guitar (as best I could) in order to simply get a feel for which direction the song may possibly go.

After having listened to and applying EQ to each individual track which seemed to stand up fairly well individually, I had a hell of a time at around the 1:04 mark dealing with some obvious frequency clashes between combined tracks. It’s still there, but not nearly as bad as it was, and certainly not as good as I would like it to be.

Anyway, it’s a demo at this point in time. If you have the time, give it a listen, and offer us recommendations.

Suffice to say that I am extremely pleased in hearing what the C4s captured on the acoustic guitar.

Dogman,

Thanks for taking the time to listen. We appreciate it very much.

As a side note...I have to say that there are times when I have had second thoughts about recording in the digital realm. I use a Yamaha AW16G which is a fantastic unit, but if I had my druthers and it weren't cost prohibitive as it is these days, I'd really prefer returning to recording to tape.

Still....it's all about enjoying and having fun with it.

Thanks again....
