Way mo' bettah. It is presenting as a unified piece. Better spread. Better mix.

BTW..the altered scale would start on E# [F]...not F#...if it mattered....
Want to be accurate!

"I'm a champion...." where it's in the key of B. The same would work on the key-of-D part built from G#. An altered is just a melodic minor from 7th note. The Lyd b7 is the melodic minor from the 4th. They're all related.

Like I said , the tonality is wide open...you can get away with virtually anything on the tune... the lyd b7 'sound' uses that melodic minor scale [ascending], and it's half whole-tone; half symetric diminished. It sets the ear to expect just about anything....as long as it's resolved a bit. Or not. :^)
So, among good choices for outlining construction would be either of those scales... But your ear should be the judge. The SD would really blow things out...like the theme from "Mission Impossible". There, in fact, is a good reference for the type of 'head' I was thinking of when I brought it up: longer notes...out-sounding...and is, really the entire 'hook' of that tune. Ask somebody to sing that song....they'll automatically attempt to sing that signature line. In fact, I just played it over the B vamp. It works great! [first note B]

Yeah, sounds good now!
Mix-wise I find the bass a little too loud and the drums very compressed, especially the cymbals. Very original!

Joe :):):):)

still too much bass huh? I must be deaf to bass. thank you I'll work on those symbols too.

God, I wish I could sing! if you double a vocal track about how many decibels should you cut from both new tracks to make it like the original(same volume)?

what plug-ins would you recommend so I could cheat even more on the vox, with a song like this? I just have stock protools ones.

I think the vox sounds pretty good. One plugin I would would recommend is Kjaerhuis Classic Chorus. It has 3 presets for the voice which I always use, but sparingly. It's free to download from KVR.

I checked that out once and I can't use it with protools. any others?

what kind of distortion can you put on vox? i just sent it through the guitar amp plug-in I got w/ protools.

sorry to be a nuisance

but I'm now sick of the song and I'm going to take a break from it for awhile.
I tried to adjust as you told me and I experimented with levels, compression and EQ.

it's still really unpolished but will you have one more listen and tell me what else you hear that I'm doing wrong?

do you ever arm two vocals tracks at the same time and record through the same input?
