Ive been using Cool Edit Pro 2 for wav editing and I noticed that the multitrack has great features. I would use it's multitrack instead of Nuendo's if only I could figure out how to lower the lag I get when I try to mix in the multitrack. The screen jumps and the audio's skip. The help option says to play with the buffers but Im not sure what to do with them. I tried higher numbers and lower numbers, it just seems to mess it up more! Nuendo's lag isn't that bad compared to Cool Edit and I wonder why. I have a medium speed Pentium processor and over 312MB of memory and a healthy hard drive. What should I do to make Cool Edit run faster????

I believe you're running on some "gamer" card. Update your current card's driver might help abit, but a new "real musician" soundcard will deffinitelly get rid all those lags...

Yeah Im using a SB Audigy, but I got the Kx driver installed, its supposed to low latency. Any more suggestions?

Processor speed and memory. Also I am curious if your hard drive is a 5400rpm or a 7200rpm

I have 312MB or SDRam; my processor is kind of slow its only like an 533mhz Anthelon or something, I bought this computer 2 years ago. My hardrive Im not sure of. I just know that programs like Fruity Loops can handle a lot of audio tracks, but when Im working with Cool Edit, it lags when I have only a few sounds loaded, with no effects. Help me out if ya can, I know my processor might be the problem. Thanks.

I've noticed the same thing also. the old cool edit worked great, but the new version seems really slow. My computer's a 1.5 with 1024 mb of memory so I know that's not the problem.
