AAAhhhhhh just a little taste of confusions to come.. :D

We better be glad we got a cep2.1 because there probably won't be another update for at least a year.

I'm hoping Tascam comes out with some DAW software in the near future. Best support ever...

See Ya

Actually what we may never see is another Cool Edit 2000 or even a continuation of 2000. Adobe is not in the business, compared to, say, Corel, of having low-end versions of any of its authoring tools. There is no low-end version of Acrobat, Photoshop, Pagemaker, or anything else. They give away free viewers, but nobody needs a free audio playing program.

Actually, I couln't get the 2.1 update off the site, wasn't there...the link was just not the update......................Oh oh

I guess I'm going to the Dark Side..............

As much as I love CEP, more and more I end up on my little LE/Audiomedia III setup due to compatability issues. If Adobe stalls the development and/or support of CEP then I'll probably moving over full time to PT or Nuendo.

Right now, I kind of like using the benefits of different softwares. I hope CEP stays in the game.

Yeah, that's a constant danger in this game. I've had two companies - for my soundcard and for my plugin suite - die on me in the last couple of years. No more support, no more drivers. It's always a gamble.

In the case of Cool Edit, I'm thinking that the acquisition by Adobe will guarantee its survival. The question in my mind is how being part of Adobe will affect its quality, its creativity and its price.

Well if you look at other Adobe products you see generally high quality, high price tools considered to be the tops in their class (i.e. photoshop, pagemaker). They tend to stay away from having entry level versions of their programs. Upgrades are significant but not closely spaced. Support is generally good.

I agree, also CEP compliments Adobe's other products. If CEP does well for them, they will be very well-rounded. Actually, Adobe's reputation could add some kuster to CEP's.

Maybe they'll change the name.....

Does anybody know if the staff and plant are staying the same?

oh no

with Adobe at the helm does that mean that
cep is going to get harder to use?
the thing that sold me on this product was the ease of use.
as a musician i want to spend as much time as possible with the red button on.
not buried in another tutorial and trying to climb a steep learning curve.

Dammit Jim I'm a musician, not a rocket scientist :)
