CEP Compatibility?

I'm getting ready to purchase some recording software and am trying to decide which way to go.

Basically, I need whatever software I get to be able to have time synchronization with imported broadcast wave files (I record on a Mackie MDR and want to import onto a PC for editing and possibly mixing).

So, the question is, does CEP support broadcast wave files?

Thanks,
Darryl.....

There are loads and bags of guys who use Cool Edit for radio work.

Thanks for the notes.

I work with several people who use a combination of Cool Edit Pro, Cakewalk Home Studio, and Sonar and I'm trying to determine which way to go for best compatibility with them and with my Mackie recorder.

The way I understand it, there is a difference between a standard WAV file and a broadcast WAV file, where the B-WAV has a time stamp that the standard WAV doesn't have. Since the Mackie recorder chops long recordings into 15 minute individual files, if you import the wave files into your DAW you then have to align the ends of the individual track files to the beginnings of the same tracks in the continuation files. From what I've heard, if you use the broadcast wave files, there is no aligning to do, you just plop the files in and they automatically align. I could be wrong on this.

I know that the latest version of Sonar added braodcast wave support, but I wasn't sure if CEP had it or not, and I couldn't find anything on the website to indicate one way or the other.
