I was thinking about recording a drum set in my dad's cement wall garage. With two berenger condenser microphones and two 57's. I'd like to know what anyone has to say about this. I'd like place the condenser microphones at a distance. My dad lives a few hundred miles away, so i can't just "give it a shot". Are the acoustics going to be a nuisance/blessing? Also(maybe unrelated but,) Can one take reverb away from a recording after it has been recorded?

It depends on the actual room dimensions and what sound you are going for. If you want a loud trashy punk sound it will probably work. If you want a nice tight modern sound then the room may have too many reflections. You can't take out natural reverb after it's been recorded.

The bottom line is that if the room sounds great it will work well. I personally wouldn't travel a few hundred miles for a concrete garage unless it happened to sound awesome. You should have some packing blankets or carpet scraps handy if you need to tame the reflections a bit.

That pretty much sums it up. I would think you would have better options closer than a few hours away that would give you better results. And 'no' you really can't get rid of reverb.
