Ok ok, let me say right here FUCK ME. I have misconstrued peoples character before. If thats the case, then I APOLOGIZE.
Sweetnubs, I don't know you, and have not read all your posts, but the ones I have read had all the trimmings of a egomanic in my book. Which is all right with me. I don't give a shit about other peoples ego. But when you start talking down to people as if you are the only one in the world who knows anything about anything, then I'll open my mouth. I've been a member here for 3 years or so and have NEVER seen anyone else be as damned condencending as you. But after reading your latest post in the analog forum, I decided there is a part of you that can be conjenial and rational.
Unless you took a "normal" pill.
Soooooooo...I'll change my perspective and offer an apology. On the grounds that I have never met you in person, and the fact that I am Irish with a temper that escapes once in a while. I may even ask you a question or two given the fact that you sound like you DO know what your talking about when it comes to audio engineering and cooking turkey.
So please accept my apology, and lets get on with enjoying this bbs. However, if you talk down to people, expect a thump from me. There is NO need for that kind of expression. We are all here to learn. And I know for a fact, YOU don't know everything.

Nice and decent sentiments, Rick. But your set of underlying assumptions are questionable.
There has been an historical trend on internet bulletin boards and chat rooms for people to construct charcters that either exagerate certain aspects of their true personality, or are complete personality fabrications. While the individuals who use these constructs get great amusement from this, naturally, there are others (many of the ones using their "real" identities) who find this offensive and objectionable. Sort of like cheating.
But Sweetnubs is hardly the first or the last. On audio forums the character of Slipperman is certainly a good example. Or perhaps you've heard of Jack Ortman? You will find others who actually create different personalities for different specific bulletin boards, sometimes even using the same name!
Do you feel like this is dishonest and manipulative? I will guess you probably do. But regardless of the ethical questions involved, the key here is to understand the concept, and be aware that this behavior goes on. Accept the reality that some of the most outrageous characters may be partly and/or entirely fictional, and you will do wonders for your blood pressure and sanity.
Hopefully you don't get overly upset by a watching an outrageous character in a cartoon. I may help to start thinking of these bulletin boards as partly an interactive cartoon and partly reality. That makes for a more complex set of interactions that may not be to everyone's liking, but that's just the way it is around here.
