Velvet (or do you prefer Elvis?:)) - That makes perfect sense.

As we would do it here, is to hold the rockwool in place with a layer of thick plastic foil (1/50" or so) tacked to the joists. This creates an airtight seal and more important, a water tight seal so the humidity in the air doesn't move from the room and condenses (sp?) in the roof on its way out. This is based on the assumptopn that it's usually warmer and more humid (water per air volume, not relative humidity) inside than outside. This is where you need to check with a local civil engineer, because if the opposite is more common where you live, the humidity will travel from the outside and in and get stopped by the plastic foil, creating a nice lake above your head...

If the plastic foil works in your area, you can use the resilliant channels as per your drawing, as the insulation will be kept in place by the plastic foil. If not, Velvet's plywood idea seems good.

The pine panel may be tricky to get in place, as you won't have anything but sheetrock and resilient to attach it to, which isn't too easy. I'll give this a bit more thought while you check the plastic foil application with a local civil engineer.
