There once was a note
I literally know zero about getting heard, any opinions on whether its better to circulate a CD or have a site on Reverbnation? I see alot of guys do both, but what is your experience with finding listeners?

Play in public whenever possible.

You're live show is what's really going to hook people into your music.

But you should have a good website (*cough* bombplates.com *cough*) and distribute demos too.

The more avenues you have to expose your music to new listeners, the better.

Yes public performances work. You can make that even better by performing for large charity groups (if your music fits the crowd). Groups like breast cancer, march of dimes, special olympics and the such.

And after you do all that, you realize that it's pointless and more trouble than it's worth.

I'm afraid I have to agree with Greg.....
By all means, have pages on different sites, play live and enjoy what you're doing, Pete. Just don't expect miracles or live in the hope of becoming an overnight success. That's a fairy tale and it just doesn't happen that way. You have to remember there are hundreds if not thousands of others doing the same thing. Ever since I have my myspace page, I've had over 1900 plays of my songs. Am I famous, have I earned any money, have I sold any CDs? Nope, but it's fun anyway.......
