I put in an empty CDrW disc to bk up a project & it says only 571 mb of free space. They are advertised as 700 mb. Is this bec of formatting? I can't fit a 60 min stereo recording on it bec it's too large but it's less than 700 mb. I don't get it. What do i do? Thanks.

You've formatted the CDRW? That's why. You have to erase the RW completely. Then request the burning software to use it as a CD-R.

That way you have access to the entire writable area, and you can repeat the process to write again, as long as the CD stays good.

You lose the ability to use it as a drive letter (which is what the formatting does), but 130 MB is a lot of space to waste, IMO.

I use RWs to check my recordings. Much better than junking CD-Rs by the dozen every week.
