Well blow me down
Is it possible to do a CDR-Recover from a CDR recording from a 1680 to an 880? My burner is kicking the CD back out with no error messages.

The CDR I received was recorded in MTP mode on a 1680. I don't have the MTP option on my 880 VS V-Xpanded recorder. Is that a problem?

I couldn't even listen to the song. It said there was no audio CD inserted when clearly there was.

As far as my burner, it has been used a total of one time.

I've already turned everything off, disconnected the cable, reconnected the cable, turned on the burner, turned on the VS 880, in that order like 5 times. And it (the 880) seems to be recognizing the SCSI ID durning boot.

Anyone?

Thanks,

MC

Update...

Can't do it with CDR...1680 must do export to 880 command and backup to Zip...according to the support line at Roland.

Well, they have to tell you that

Logically speaking, it can't be done...but, why not experiment? You have nothing to lose, and if the transfer fails because of the track limitation . . .

Try copying the song on the 1680, then erase all unused tracks. Copy tracks 9-16 to virtual tracks v/1-2 through v/8-2. Then erase tracks 9-16, which the 880 can't read anyway. Who knows? You might get lucky.

Maybe upgrading your OS to the EX would also help, I'm not sure.

Hey 'Zzat,

Well the Roland folks were pretty adamant that this couldn't be done to CDR even if he recorded in MT1, MT2, or MAS (which is all my machine is capable of--No MPT option) which, if true, is a serious underdesign IMHMFO.

The earlier transfer failed - and I'm not sure it's only because it was recorded in MTP mode (which I don't have)... it also may have failed due to the way the export intructions are written on the 1680... He did a normal backup and my burner wouldn't even accept the CD, kept spitting it out.

I suppose it wouldn't hurt trying your suggestion (Crispy suggested the same thing at the planet using the same recording mode). Nothin' to lose, I reckon...

As far as upgrading, they don't make an upgrade package available from VX to EX (on the 880 anyway)...they don't want to fool with the hardware additions.

Thanks,

I wanted to do a data transfer from a 1680 to an 880ex as well. My engineer recorded me a couple years back and I simply wanted my project to work on further at my facility.
Can't do it!
What a crock of sh*t! This is supposed to be a professional product??? And Roland wants everyone to use their recorders??? What good is it if you can't swap tracks between machines??!?!
