I did close out the session when I was done .
Does it matter which CD's I use( cd-r, cd-rw)?
How can I tell if it is recording as .wav file or music.

Yes it matters.
A cdrw can be read only by a burner that burns such a format. There are almost no players that can play a cdrw.
CDR is the way to go.

As for wav or audio look at the extension of the file if it's .wav then you'll know it's a wav. If it's cdda it's audio

Re-writeables play fine on your computer, so make your master CD that way. You can change it and tweek it and so on. When it's perfect copy it to a Recordable only CD. That one will play on your walkman, or anybody's CD music player.

when you burn an "audio" cd it converts to .cda ...when you burn a "data" cd it burns it in wav format..
