Cd / .wav file volume Level

A strange thing, the volume level on my burned cd,s is much softer than what I hear in my monitors before I export. I export .wav at 16 bit 44.1, I tried turning dithering off, setting other preference to "what you hear" and checked the mix .wav file and the level is still softer so it's not happening in the burning process. I understand the whole mess about getting cd's as loud as commercial but my problem is my export .wav file is softer than what I hear in my monitors before I export. Any Help??

I was just thinking, could it be that I'm monitoring my inputs istead of outputs. Thus I'm not really hearing whats getting mixed down on the export. This is driving me crazy!!!

I had this same problem with Sonar4. and apprently ive been told its becasue its just a "mix"

had i had run some masetering tools or plug-ins or something like that OR giving it to someone to master.

I would have seen a vast improvment.

Tyr running some different mastering presets and see if that helps at all. It did for me.

I know nothing about the art of mastering so i usually let my friend do it. He loves it and is pretty decent at it.

But for fun run a preset on it and see what happens. You will be suprised.

Songsj, is there a volume control for your CD player? Sometimes the CD player plays audio through a different "channel" than audio files on disc.

I think I found the problem, for some reason in Sonar I'm seeing some settings for my sound card , Audigy 2ZS,that I did not see in other programs. under Master settings they show 7/8, 5/6, 1/2 and none. I was setting them at 7/8 but at 1/2, the volume of what I'm hearing seems to be the same as the volume of files burned. I'm not sure why this feature is there, maybe so you can bump all volume levels for listening without changing any faders.
