It's a dead topic as far as I'm concerned. The post requirement isn't a discriminatory thing, in fact anyone who has been here for more than a day and a half will certainly understand this. The simple truth is, the more posts you have, the more likely you are to meet the various deadlines and financial committments. In short...you're more trustworthy.

Aside from a few people, most of us have never met eachother and we're taking a leap of faith in eachother to get this thing out. I know how unfair this sounds, but Slack is right...where is it written that life is fair? There are requirements for everything in life and this is no exception. If you feel strongly enough about this site and the comp, you will most certainly be included on the next one...it's no big deal so quit your bellyaching! ;)

It's a joke that anyone would feel slighted by this. It's just common sense.

I found through personal experience that this thread, although, it may not be going anywhere fast, does howver, provide a vehicle to drive "Newbies" nuts (see my previous posts in this forum for proof). It's sort of like an initiation to a club or fraternity hazing. I got pissed about the post limitation, and submitted some sarcastic remarks pertaining to the matter... ...Left my butt cheeks out there hanging, AND THEY GOT WACKED SUMTHIN' FIERCE!!! I'll be the first to admit that I deserved every comment posted (and all the one's that people did't post as well). It's OK to be frustrated by something and flame everything in site, as long as you're able to come back down to earth after others put you in your place. Everybody needs to vent every once in a while, but the people you vent at DON'T have to sympathize with your point of frustration. In fact, Getting a virtual ass kicking is good every once in a while (take it from an experienced ass whose been kicked a few times)! Peace, Tom.

Slack, Keep this thread going, the American Institute of Pshychology may have some interest in viewing it down the road.

Seeing as how this thread is supposed to be about the comp CD any chance of a status report Mr Slack Sir?? ;)

As far as my opinion is concerned, I believe I have stated my case quite clearly. I don't expect to be included on a compilation CD untill I have paid the piper. I do however believe in what you all are doing, and it is a needed service being performed by concerned world citizens. The fact is that the 'standard' recording industry bullshit usually applies to 99% of the folks who want to do something with their talent besides play for friends, or at bars, or wherever. This means unfortunatly, that we either follow industry rules, or take matters into our own hands. That my friends is what this website is all about. (at least from my point of view.)I probably will have my own CD this year, whether I take up one of the offers from record companies, or do it on my own. I hate to think of all the raw talent out there, that has been overlooked, or ignored, for one reason or another. I know that just around here where I live, is at least a dozen or more musicians who are way better than a lot of what I hear on the radio. Unfortunatly, most of these people will never get to 'Record' their unique sounds. They will never get any 'Air-time' because they aren't being promoted by a large conglomerate, or just never find out how simple it really is. They are stuck in jobs that eat up their lives, and by the time they are free to explore what they are capable of, it's usually too late, or they have gotten rid of their guitars, or whatever. Now, with the computer age, I hope more of these talented people find sites like this one, so maybe we can hear some tunes that are from somewhere other than 'normal' channels. I hope this site stays around long enuf to have some unknown be one of the 'chosen' who make it.
see ya !!! :)

I think that people's insecurities are somewhat exaggerated here in cyberspace. Or maybe not exaggerated, but more forward. Someone sees a "minimum post count" and suddenly they feel inferior and oppressed.

I admit that I've overreacted in a similar fashion myself a time or too. It's normal.

The logic behind the requirement is pretty straight-forward and not meant to hurt anyone. I think people tend to forget that the CD is intended to represend the HomeRecording.Com BBS, and not "home recorders" in general. So they come in with a "just because I haven't posted doesn't mean I can't record", which is a true statement, but totally besides the point.
