i was looking for ways to optimize my PC for audio recording a few weeks ago, and i found a article on this site, and one of the tips was to turn off the CD-rom auto load function through the DLL files... well i did the steps and turned it off, and lost the link to the article, so i have no clue how to undo that... the problem is my cd rom doesnt load DVDs at all, so i now have a half assed PC... anyone know what to do?

why would you shut cd-auto load off??
just don't insert a CD, and if you do: keep pressing the SHIFT key for a while so it won't autoload.

well i was readin the tips on optimizing, and i thought turning it off would make a difference, because when i put in CD, it lags up everything else while loading...

What version of windows?

In windows 98/ME you have to go to device properties. Then go into the properties of the CD drive. Then it will have a box that says AUTO INSERT NOTIFICATION.

Having it off is better as the computer doesn't scan your CD drive every now and then for new cd's. Switching it off means that you'll have to start setup programs etc. manually off the cd.

yeah thats what i read, but i guess it totally doesnt load DVDs, cuz like when u explore DVD CD's u got all the audio_ts files, which cant be run through a regular program. but thanks for the help! i just reinstalled the drivers and im good to go
