ok.
my little brain works very slowly, so please help me understand. i own a vs880, and would like to archive my songs, burn master mixes, and back up data for my wife (photos and such.) i currently use a zip drive for backup, but i've grown weary of using 3 disks per song @ $7 per disk!!
the 880 has digital i/o, and a scsi port..
our PC is archaic(166), and our soundcard is the one that came with it when we bought it.
what hw & sw will i need to pull this off??
cost is definitely a factor, as i have little funds after my monitor purchase...
thank you in advance, you guys have never let me down yet.

sincerely,

Hi. I'm basically in the same boat as you are. I use the 1680 though. What I'm going to do is go from my 1680 to a pc via the digital output, and then burn to CD. Burners are going for around $200 and up. You can get a soundcard for under $400 also. Just save up a bit and get one thing at a time.

thank you gentlemen...

now, another question:

tmc, what made you decide to go the pc route as opposed to the new Roland stand alone?? are the costs roughly the same??
and can you back up your song data to the pc?
i read somewhere that you can't, although they didn't say why..

thanks again.
