Hey guys I wasn't sure where to post this so I decided to post it here.

I'm working on a project and I'm just about ready to send it out to a CD manufacturer for production. My question is, how do I ensure that when the CD is finished and I have all of them shipped to me that if I were to pop one in my computer the titles of the tracks would come up on iTunes rather than just saying "Track 01", "Track 02", etc. Is this something I need to take care of myself or will the company I'm copying the CD through do it? I've never done this before so I appreciate the help!

Thanks!

Nico

There is a database where all the cd's are categorized. The most popular one is Gracenote. They were the old CDDB. It used to be you needed a barcode for the CD and ISRC codes for each song. A place like CD Baby can issue both for you. The barcode has a charge, but the ISRC codes are free. You assign each track the isrc codes or ask your mastering engineer to do it. The duplication plant does not do this for you.

It might be different these days. Gracenote has a FAQ on how to do it with iTunes and it doesn't involve ISRC codes. Suppose to be free to submit. I might try again with my CD's.

Here is a link to the FAQ...

Part of it is CD-TEXT information also -- Some drives / OS's will read it (although many programs DON'T for the simple act of accessing those databases along with album sales helps reveal how much piracy is going on).
