I have been messing around with the Stevie Wonder tune, Cause we've ended as lovers, but done as Beck did it on the Blow by Blow album.

I don't even deserve to clean Beck's boots with my tongue let alone do this tune, but it's a great learning experience.
I didn't really try and copy any of beck's licks, I just let er rip, but I have been listening to this tune for 30 years so there's bound to be some stolen ideas.

Hope someone digs this style of guitar instrumental.
It's just a learning experience, but let me know if something sucks reall bad and I'll fix it.

Tone chain:
Ibanez JS1200CA guitar -> Tube preamp -> Soundcard line in -> Guitar Rig 3 -> Mixcraft 4

It sounds good...all the way around...the drums, the guitars, the piano, the bass ...all the volumes and where they are setting in the mix...did you use a backing track again or did you take the time to do this all...? If you did, you kick ass with the backing...if you didn't...well, someone kicks ass with it...:D

Wow EL34...I think it is my favorite of all the covers you've posted, that I've had an opportunity to listen to...or maybe I am just one of those people, whom loves the one they are listening to at the moment the best...which ain't a bad thing. If it was shitty, I wouldn't listen at all...:p

Tone is great!! Playing is too!!! Moves through the soul with emotion....I love the way the tone jumps up with a cry almost to a wail..almost...you pull back a bit, right at the edge of losing control;)... then get down to a dirty growl....but not too dirty...and repeats throughout the song. It leaves me feeling satisfied, but wanting more. Anyway, that is how I hear it...

The piano is absolutely perfecto with the axe. It's timing of being strong in the mix and it's subtleness in other parts. The song is well written and arranged and you've made it your own with your interpretation....I wouldn't change a thing on this one.

Who wants to lick his boots anyway...he's a dude with an axe that plays with his soul...just like so many of you guys do....and hey..I bet he don't EVEN have 18" of hot steel to work with either baby!!! ;):D

Thanks True, you didn't even mention the off-notes here and there. :D

I think I am gonna dump the intro and start the tune at the :30 mark. There was a collision between me and some of those fancy piano notes.

I used a backing track again cause I don't have the skill or the time to do a backing track with Piano.

It was raining all day here yesterday and so I did this tune for fun since I couldn't go outside and play.
It's got that rainy day blues vibe. :p

What off notes...? But then off sounds good to me!!:D

Ohhh..don't lose the intro..it was a good collision!!!;)

I can only imagine how you play on a snow day...

Good job. My favorite parts are those that mimic the orig closely and when you just let 'er rip. The Ibanez is nice but the tone is a bit fizzy on the upper register. The lower stuff has the perfect growl. The whammy action is excellent, nice touch there. Tough tune but you did it well... Nice one to cover....I've always liked this one... :D

Thanks Ido,
It's a great tune for sure and Beck did it to the 9's. :D

Sounds good, though I agree with Ido-the ibanez is a bit fizzy. I saw Jeff Beck in town about 20 years back and I think he used a Tele-or maybe an old Esquire-for this tune-I swore he was gonna snap the neck on that guitar the way he was bending it. He ws loud as hell, but had such control over his feedback all night long---totally mesmerizing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Congrats on a well done song.

Beck is the best.
He plays Strats most of the time lately. Tele's now and then too.

He keeps his right hand on the wang bar at all times and claws the strings with his fingers.

He get such an awesome tone by manipulating the bar and strings that way.

appreciate the feedback.

Really nice cover. I have the album and though the tone is a little different, your version has a nice feel.

Thanks all,
I re-did the intro and uploaded a new version. same link as above.
