Is it necessary to lubricate the head "slider" mechanism on a cassette desk, i.e., the plate on which the head slides in and out of the cassette tape path?
I have my TASCAM 246 opened up to replace belts and other rubber parts, and I wonder if I need to do anything with this "slider" mechanism. I've cleaned the head religiously, but I've never done anything with mechanism on which the head moves. It appears to have some sort of light lubricant, judging by the dust and Q-tip fuzz sticking to it.
Thanks for your help!
