Casio WK3000:As it becomes available

Since Casio is considered a "funstation" by most folks on this board,I thought I'd post here as to avoid too much "flaming".

So far,for 300+ bucks,this thing is a MONSTER!

I mean it,it ROCKS!

When's the last time you played a "toy" that had compression and exciter/enhancer algorithims?
Not to mention a Digital Equalizer?

Euhm, ANY 10$ toy these days has a DSP in it. My cheapo hifithingy has digital EQ algorithms and they sound like shit.

Believe me or not, even the digital orientated reccers here will probably shiver a bit when anyone uses DIGITAL EQ in the a commercial. Digital eq can give good results. NOT in a keyboard of 300$. Jee.

And one more thing, wherever you post on this board, it doesn't matter. If you won't accept the fact that Casio is marketed to the consumer market, instead of musicians, than you will get flamed. Casio is NOT comparable to anything that would have a GOOD SOUND.

I hate you. Bah! You get on my nerves. Go away and DIE.

I don't need to take the challenge. I've had some casios in for repair. They sucked.

And the cheapo hifi thingy is a philips radio. It sounds bad, and worse if you touch the EQ. I HATE philips. BAH!

I'm so attached to my Yam DX-7, and the three years of learning how it works, that I am prejudiced by it. I'm sure there are several other "newer" synths out there that blow my DX-7 away. But, I like the sturdy steel construction of the DX-7 and its many, many, many tweaks on board for the patches.

Roel, have a nice bottle of wine wherever you are.

Long time no see eh! My niece was born July 25... That's 1.5 months ago!

Wine... Hmmm. That's it! I remember why I came here 5 minutes ago! I was going to post a thread to praise hot chocolate. Damn. I completely forgot about it...

Well, as for keys: Roland A90, JV1010, some midi keyboard, Arp pro soloist and a Yamaha U3 upright.
Recording: VS1880 and laptop with Audiophile USB, symetrix e528 and some mics, and some gear to tie it all together (cheapo mixer, cheapo headphone amp, ...)
Then, Alesis monitor one, and some peavey amp.

Some classical guitars, a fender strat, roland jazzchorus and Vtwin.

And my most favourite instruments; a selmer IIseries silver plated alto and an old Hohner president alto.

That would be it. Ow, and some bontempi keyboard that would fit in with the casios. :confused:

The difference between you GH and our friend Sky is that you acknowledge that there are "several other "newer" synths out there that blow XXXX away".

I agree with Krakit. The word C--io is a bad word. It should always be replaced with xxxxx. And never used or discussed.

What's up with that?? :confused: You are here to promote the use of "home keys"?? As for casio, you could discuss about it, but for yamaha, it's pretty clear that they market 2 lines of products, one to REAL musicians, and one to guys thqt just want to try playing tunes...

And fucking hell, I tried to start a decent discussion with you, talking about gear, and you just ignore my answer. One more chance dude, and I'm gonna flame your ass pretty bad.

I'm not entirely against "Pro" synths or workstations-I've been looking into the Alesis ION lately and more and more,I think it would be good to have one.

Remeber back in the early to mid 80's when all those "plastic,synthy" drum machines came out?Those were pretty much the musical currency of those years.Remember when everyone and their brother and sister wanted a set of Simmons electronic drums?Remember how damn MUCH they cost,just for the "status"?.........
 
...I wonder how many of those kits are now stored in warehouses next to all of the "Dick Tracy" stuff...?
Everyone was snapping up the "first models" of everything that came down the pike,without really bothering to do any basic research-They just whipped out their wallets and hoped for the best....
"Hoping" doesn't help at all with fiscal concerns-You actually have to read up on the stuff and then go out and try it to see if the walk matches the talk.
Now as then,it really doesn't because the "bigs" are in business to sell musical instruments most any way that they can.They could really give a crap if that brand new "Super Synth" is really going to help you write better stuff-Their in the business of "ka-CHING!",which is not a bad thing in and of itself...
 
...we ALL are in the business of $$$,it's the American way...

However,I really hate it when the "Bigs" try to put themselves of as "benevolent" while you're shoving $3k across the table for something that isn't worth 3 bucks.And,worse yet,you are buying into obsolescence EVERY TIME.
Your fancy rig is guaranteed to be "a thing of the past" just as soon as the ink is dry,because the next big thing is just around the corner.....
 
......but before that "big thing" even crowns on the radar,you have to shell out more $$$ for "accessories" for your new toy..
"Optional this" and "Attachable that" and blah blah blah....and on it goes...

A lot of the "new" stuff out there has already been out for quite some time and,guess what?-The holiday season doth approach and you can bet your bottom dollar that the bigs are gunning for you with lots of "brand new stuff"...

And,you can bet also that the Technics Road Show will return to Costco with the same hammy salesman who spends all day trying to sell that crappy KN6000(or it's successor) for 4 grand.
Thankfully,if the average consumer is not well informed,at least they don't have an extra 4k burning a hole in their pocket,just waiting to be *wasted*....
