I love the piano sound and the action and the price ($650 or so)

And the goddamned thing doesn't have 1/4 inch jacks!!!

How do I connect to a PA system?

How do I record into the computer?

I must admit, I didn't believe this, but according to the PDF manual it's true. There is a headphone jack though, so I guess you'll have to purchase/make up a suitable lead and adjust the levels accordingly.

im not sure bout that keyboard but i hook my casio (cant remember the make but its in the 150-200euro mark)
to my soundcard via midi and put it through the mixer/recorder via headphone 1/4" jack.....

No midi jacks on this thing. Just one USB port, and I don't know of any PA boards that have USB built in. And if there were one, what would the chances be that it'd be there at the club that night?

Is there a comparable instrument in that $$ range?

no midi cables  MAD.... just had a quick look on ebay you can get a usb to 2.5mm jack cable not sure if it can be got with a 1/4" jack or XLR but if it comes with a 2.5mm im sure their out there in some store, if not you can always get extension adapter cables and make it up so it will work for you, im always doing this with cables(never with usb though) i bought from ebay and ive not noticed any difference in sound quality, once the cables are looked after that is!!!

i had a look at the manual and its the same as mine it dose'nt state that the headphone jack can be used for a line out but my keyboard headphone jack works perfect as a line out, so i would be very surprised if it did'nt work!!!

the only way to know for sure is either contact casio or go to a store that has one and cheak it out.....

MIDI cables aren't gonna do jack into a PA anyway ..... they don't output sound ...... only digital info. And the same with a USB.
As Raven suggested, if all it's got is a headphone jack you'll have to use that which may be ok. I'd try running it into a line input at fairly low levels. If you crank the Casio then the headphone out might put out enough to overdrive the input so you'll probably want to leave the Casio low and turn up the PA channel so it's not distorted.
In general I hate the idea of using a headphone out into a line input because it's sometimes distorted because of overdriving but I have hjeard it sound ok so just try it and see.

i was referring to the madness of having no midi cables to connect via soundcard not a pa but then it has usb so its not that mad ;)

For $650 you can get some SERIOUS sounding keyboards. I dont know what you need as far as action and number of keys, but for sounds alone you can get some amazing stuff. Korg, Yamaha and Roland all have good stuff in that range. My Yamaha MM6 sells for $599 and has some awesome sounds including a very nice piano.

Strange. Even my PX-100 has MIDI in/out. However, it doesn't have 1/4" audio outs; just headphones. I've recorded from the headphone jack with decent results, though. As others have said, just watch your levels.

But it does have midi. I think it's the "new way" for prosumer keys, just having the USB instead of midi ports. My keys have both but I have never used the usb.
