That's AKA the Apex 460. Looks identical, certainly it's the same mic.

Apex 460: Chinese sizzzle 101. Probably usuable as a male vocal mic. Or maybe not.

Only until you change the tube. I have an Apex 460 and swapped the tube from the stock 12AX7 (which should never be in a tube mic) to a Telefunken 12AT7. This is a VERY good mic with that tube! The sizzle goes away as well as the 12AX7's overbearing low end. Probably could use a better transformer but it's a great mic after the tube swap.

Is it the same mic as the apex 460? I thought Carvin makes it's own mics? I don't know that much about it. I just thought it looked cool. But, changing the tubes is something that seems like a good idea (if the tube they have in it sux). maybe a groovetube even.

I don't think even Apex makes their own mics. All the new cheap condensers are made by a few companies in China, and sold to American companies who stamp their name on it. SE Electronics is the only exception currently.

Carvin has a great return policy. Try before you buy. Best in the business, no ?'s asked. As for the mic, don't know
