Carillon or Rockingham?

I've been researching for about 4 months now, and I think I'm torn between these two options.

Rockingham seems to have a better price and warranty (3 years, parts & labor), with little to no reputation, since they seem to be a relitively new company.

Carillon has more options, and more customer history as it would seem. But a not so good warranty (1 year, I was hoping for at least an 18-24 month warranty) and a higher price (perhaps because of their rep./name)

Have any of you had experience with either of these companies? Heard any stories? I'd love to hear from anyone. Thanks.

maybe a stupid newbie question but what do these companies produce ??????????????

They make turnkey DAWs. I've never used either, so I can't comment. But I did like the look of the Carillons.

I haven't worked with a carillon day to day, but the insides are actually quite nice. Talking to them during AES one time, it seems that they're drawing a lot upon the modding and enthusiast PC culture for their hardware design choices, and the systems, from a hardware and build perspective, are top notch. If I had the money, I'd go for a Giga system myself...

i'd probably give you a better price than both companies... but if it was between the 2..i'd go with the Rockingham sound. they build solid machines and there support is good..

Sklathill: Do you mean a Tascam GigaStudio? Or is there a builder of DAWs by the name Giga?

pdlstl: Thanks for the tip. I'll check them out.

c9-2001: Do you build on the side?

yea i build computers, servers, networks on the side.. i've been building computers for about 8-9 years.
my father owns a computer company..so for all his clients i usually build the systems.
just got finnished building a graphic machine for maya, poser and some other high end graphic apps.. its a real nice and quiet machine..its water cooled..
