Can someone please enlighten me on the different types of mic patterns?
I recently purchased a Sennheiser e-835. Is this a cardiod? I found that the old Sherman mic that I was previously using, picked up a larger sound field than the Sennheiser (i.e. with the same level of trim, I can sing 5 inches away from the old Sherman mic and still get a hot signal. With the Sennheiser, I need to be fairly close to the mic.)
Could this be the sound pattern? I don't even know whether the terminology I'm using is correct.
Anyway, I hope my question is clear. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,
KF
