Card Error on New Card

Hey. I just bought a SimpleTech 256mb for my needed extra memory. I turn on the MR-8 and it runs through the little setup, but then it just gives me CARD ERROR/ERROR 10. I know that I need to format the card and try to create a new song, but I can get to any of that stuff because the card error message pops up and doesn't allow me to do anything. Do I need a new card or what? The manual doesn't help at all. Thanks
 
No I haven't but I d/led the info. I'll try that to see if it might make a diff.
 
junplugged, if you can believe it, Sam's Club. And cheaper than any place i could find on the net, $80.
