I thought this was a pretty decent song overall. It sounds like something that mainstream radio would play, yet surprisingly it didn't suck, which is hard to do in my opinion. I think what sets you guys apart is that your band consists of actual musicians who took the time to learn their instruments, especially the guitarist. Those sweeps in the solo brought me back to the days when I idolized Jason Becker. Definitely not the type of solo I'd expect from this genre of music, which is why I loved it. Speaking of expectations, the 17 second intro lead me to believe that I was in for some type of electronic music which was definitely not the case. I think anything that takes away from predictability can't hurt. Good vocals on this track too. Reminded me a little of Casey Crescenzo of The Dear Hunter.

Having said all that, I did have a slight problem with the recording. I listened to this track twice through a pair of PROline 650 headphones by Ultrasone, and was getting a slight distortion. I'm no expert so I can't be sure but, maybe the track was mixed too hot? Because it's so late, I could not crank it through my monitors, but maybe others will chime in as well. I also noticed something was cutting into the vocals at times (usually during the chorus') causing little hiccups. It was barely noticeable, but it was as if something (a compression maybe) was interrupting them.

I've been recording for years, but only in the last couple years have I focused on the mixing end, so be sure to take all I've said with a grain of salt. Good work, and best of luck to you guys!

I'm actually getting pretty severe distortion at quite a few points in the song. I actually copied the track into my DAW and zoomed into sample level without seeing any nasty squared off waves so I'm a bit stymied. Something to do with the conversion for Soundcloud maybe.

The distortion is unfortunate because I actally quite like the track (if that's not a kiss of death coming from an old geriatric git like me....

Yes there is definitely some distortion that i knew about, but im glad to hear your opinions.

and the vocals are to be resung this weekend anyhow... me and my brother are the singers and we recorded the morning after a 3 hour show so we were both hurting a bit haha.

It is funny that you mention Casey Crescenzo... he is one of my favorite singers, but dont think im trying to imitate him :P i've been singing that style since before i heard his music... but he is amazing!!!

believe it or not... our lead guitarist, we just picked him up november... he just turned 17 years old..

I think the distortion might just be coming from the heavy limiting. That's a real loud mix. If it were me I'd back of the limiter quite a bit and respost.

I think it might be a nice sounding mix underneath the limiter.

The mix is loud, which may not be a problem, but it may cause some distortion.

17? Wow, that kid is pretty good.

Nice recording overall, and the song is good too!

No way did I ever think you were ripping Casey's style, in fact, I didn't even think of it until the end of the second listen. Just a slight resemblance I'd say. As far as your 17 year old guitarist, hang on to that guy!

haha, yes, definitely need to hold on to him!!!

I'm looking into that distortion and actually decided to fully overhaul the mix, i noticed there were some clippings that i thought i could get away with, and i just couldnt :P
