I tried plugging my DOD death metal distortion pedal into my old ladies bass amp and it just sounded so hot and sizzly, really juicy even though lacking all the tones of a good amp lol. I'm mostly using Amplitube Metal and I look for decent presets and then try to tweak them until they sound good, but unfortunately nothing I seem to do compares to audio samples recorded the right way. So, it frustrates the shit out of me...

I hear you. On the song you reviewed of mine I used an amp into an SM58, but couldn't play it loud and had to use post recorded gain to "make it so", so you heard what it sounded like. I wonder the diff between playing an amp quiet that still has a good sound versus playing the amp loud versus playing through a DI and a decent amp sim. I've always had problems with the sims I've used, mostly because of hiss and sounds you can't use a gate to kill. Most of the time they sound worse to me than playing quietly on an amp. It's kind of hard to explain, the amp has the sound I want, but not the volume, the air being pushed ...

I can have it as loud as I want because I live in a house and fuck the neighbors LOL. but it's the money that I don't have lol. I upgrade things every chance I get and I doubt I'll have the money for any more upgrades till next year, but when I do have it a new amp is in order. I'm going to get one of these...

Then I'm done with gear for both live and studio. but always seems like there is something else. Like microphones, recording interfaces, headphones, headphone amps, cables, accessories. It's been non-stop like that for over 10 years. Trying, buying, selling, trading etc. etc. etc. I love it and hate it... LOL

I think the vocals are just too upfront - and the drums too far back

it's interesting though, I think it has some potential

raise the drums, lower the vocals see what that sounds like :)
