Hi all,

Another question: I have a terratec phase 26, which should support 24 bits at 96 kHz, but I am only able to record at 16 bits, if I choose anything above, SONAR tells me that the hardware does not support it. I'm using the MME driver at this moment, does MME only support 16 bits?

Thanks,
Bas

You need to change the Terratec control panel to tell it to use 24-bit. It defaults to 16-bit.

Do this with Sonar closed. Make the change, re-open Sonar and re-profile the card.

Q.

can't find it

He QWERTY,

Thanks for the replies but:

What do you mean? My Terratec has a mode switch on the front that can be switched between 16/48 and 24/48 or 24/96. The control panel has a setting but it only relates to the default mode setting at start up.
On my phase 26 the 24/48 led is burning and still I can only stream and/or record at 16 bits.

Thanks,
Bas

Do you have another sound card in the system?

Perhaps this is being limited by the other card (onboard?), which is probably only 16 bit capable. Try disabling the other card in Sonar (Options > Audio > Drivers, if I recall correctly).

You probably will then have to change the Sonar settings to 24 bits, reprofile the card and exit and re-enter Sonar.

Same for cakewalk pro 9

I am having a similar problem with an Echo Mia soundcard and Pro9. Same deal having to get the card setup and then open Cakewalk etc. - but when I do, and select 24 bit in the audio options menu all of a sudden the audio in/out tracks of my soundcard are unavailable when setting the play/record medium for each track. Basically - I have tried in a number of ways and can not get it to work with 24 bit, but both the card and the software seem to support it. 16 bit 96000 hz is the best I can use. Any advice??
