I am trying to import songs to use as scratch tracks. Anything I import from any source won't play in the project. You can double click it and get the track properties and it will play there. WTF am I doing wrong? This program is confusing the living crap out of me and I just want to do the most basic stuff on it...

On the ACID toolbar goto VIEW>MIXER

Goto the MIXER TAB (it should be on the bottom left hand-side or it'll be floating).

On the MIXEER TAB you will see a column labelled MASTER.

On the MASTER you will see four icons (MASTER OUTPUT, MASTER FX, MUTE, and SOLO). Right-click on the MASTER OUTPUT. Then mark the OUTPUT channel of your choice.

I am, of course, making the assumption that you have already, in Acid, went to.........

OPTIONS>PREFERENCES>AUDIO>AUDIO DEVICE TYPE.

:D

Peace...

well when i import them, I can't see the normal wave view after the track that I can when I record stuff. In other words, I can't "see" the sound in the project. If I record something and then record something over it, I can hear the first track while recording and it will play when I play the project. Not true for anything i try to import...

Are you "painting" the track in with the pencil tool?

When you record, that happens automatically, when you import a wav, or anything else, you have to paint it in.

Make sure the pencil is selected, click & drag next to the imported track (where you expect to see the wave form).

Thanks so much Brad, that definately worked. Man I have a lot to learn about this program.

Thanks,
Dave

No problem man! If you are using ACID Pro 3 or 4 and you want to cut down on the time it takes to learn most of the ins and outs of the program, you might want to think about picking up the book called "Teach Yourself ACID 3.0 in 24 Hours" It's put out by the company SAMS - they have a whole bunch of software books in the "Teach yourself... ...in 24 hours" series. It helped me get a serious handle on ACID in, you guessed it, about a day. If you are using ACID Music, it may not be so helpful. If you have Pro 4.0, the book will still help immensely (I don't think they put one out for 4.0 yet, but the book still touches on things you can do with 4).

Good luck and have fun!

Cool, I am familiar with that series of books. I work in a University bookstore and we sell quite a few of those titles. I actually work in the computer department and this copy of ACID Pro 4.0 was given to me by a Rep from Sonic Foundry. I'll have to see what kinda books I can order to help me out in my learning process. I know it is very clear to you guys I have no clue what I am doing but I am excited to learn!

Thanks again,
Dave
