Alan? Any comments?

Hi, I bump this, in order so that Alan Hyatt may can answer me whether there IS a new C1 with pad and roll-off, and if so, if he could contact his dutch distributor Jules Stevenhagen.(stjules@cistron.nl)

Speeddemon,

I did e-mail Jules. In fact I e-mailed him many times. I let all the dealers and distributors well in advance when these new babies were coming. Jules may have a few left he wants to move, but he knows about the update, because I let him know :)

If I were you, I'd get this.....

I see what you mean.
-Yeah, Neve won't be affordable at all
-I don't have any other pre's yet (apart from those on my Korg D16)
-I may also want to buy an Audiobuddy or a DMP-3 to go with it, for my Sennheiser e609 and Shure SM57...
-I was already leaning towards the Meek...it's growing more ;)
-The Grace 101 - I heard good stuff about, but I like the EQ/compression/enhancer/VU on the Meek...
-I like to do some surf and rock songs, with a vintage sound, I think that opto-compressor would do the trick there...

Anyway more folks 'pro-Meek'? ;)

Oh, from that condenser-list, I think I go with the AT 4033 SE...
So in my bedroom-studio the AT-4033 SE + Joemeek VC1Qcs would make a friggin' front-end, wouldn't it?

I have a VC1Q which I LOVE, but I should have spent $100.00 dollars more and got this...

This is a STEREO Joemeek VC1Q with a STEREO LINKABLE compressor and stereo eq! After you're done tracking, you can run your mix through the compressor (which is different than the VC1Q, as it is voiced the same as a MEEK SC2, which goes for a GRAND!!!)

You can get the manual and read about it here...
http://www.joemeek.net/joemeek/products/twinqinfo.htm

and you can get it for $699.95 here
http://www03.bhphotovideo.com/defau...08___JOVCTQ___REG___CatID=0___SID=EC4FA6342E0

It's like a free VC1Q for an extra $100.00!!!
Don't listen to the bullshit about the "meek color".
The Meeks are controllable as to the amount of color you want.
It's all in the compressor. The more you dial in, the more color you get.
I love my Meek VC1Q, but I just bought a Meek SC2.2 today cause I love their compresson sound on drums. I could have saved a bundle had I bought the Twin VC instead. In fact, I still might. I might sell my VC1Q and get the stereo one instead!
If you want to hear the Meeks in a PRO environment, buy the new John Mellencamp album. According to Alan, (who said he set them up), Mellencamp used 8 VC1Q's on the album.
Sounds AWESOME!!
Check it out!!!
Good Luck,
Carmen:)

Carmen!

Although the TwinQ is something to think about, here are some of my points:
-You miss the de-esser/enhancer on the TwinQ
-I'll be using it for 1 track at a time (vocals, bass, guitar)
-Although the compression will sound as I want, I have some usable 'final' compression/limiting effects in my Korg D16.
-I maybe am gonna add an Audiobuddy or a DMP3 for my dynamic mics (Sennheiser e609, Shure SM57)

Anyway, I'll look here and there, because I can get the VC1Qcs for just $500 new! (at Feedback in Holland), I think the dutch price of the TwinQ will be much higher. And $200 difference at least, could buy me the DMP3, or an Audiobuddy with a Composer Pro.....

but thanx again for the insight...
