I finally got my midi sound thru my pc speakers,(I had a brain fart)
But now I have a new problem,( I bet your suprised!!) Now when I use my midi, the sound is delayed, it takes aboot half a second to go thru my speakers. This seems to be a major problem,(timing issue). But I am sure I am missing something simple.
Please help me.

p.s. Thanks for all of you help before.

............peace.

What's making the MIDI sound? A software synth?

What kind of soundcard? Cakewalk or SONAR? Which versions of WIndows? What type of drivers (MME or WDM)?

I am using a concertmate 980 (cheap), I have a soundblaster pci 128, using cakewalk proaudio, with windows 2000, and I am not sure where to find out what drivers I am using.
I had a problem earlier with my midi coming out of my keyboard speakers, and my audio out of my pc speakers. Now I have them both coming thru my pc (thats what I wanted), but now the midi is a bit slow,(even the clicktrack) I press a drum note, there is a slight delay before I hear it.
....any ideas AlChuck??

If I'm not mistaken the SB PCI 128 does not have a dedicated synth on board but plays through a software synthesizer. What are the names of all the MIDI devices you can see in Cakewalk when you go to set a track to use a particular device?

If you are using Windows 2000 you might have WDM drivers for that card or you might not. WDM drivers are pretty much required for real-time playing of software synths through a recording application. But even if you do, I believe Cakewalk Pro Audio 9 cannot use them effectively, as it's an older application and does not support WDM drivers.

AlChuck, in my output ports, I have,,microsoft gs waveable sw synth,(which I am using),,microsoft midi mapper,,and creative soundblaster pci.
I hope this is the info you wanted,,I am sorry I am wasteing your time,,but I am very eager to get this up and running correctly.
Thanks alot.
