Can you use Pro Tools LE w/non Digidesigns Interfaces

My buddy bought the Mbox (I think thats what its called) and now he is looking to upgrade to something with more channels (8), the digidesign 001 is kinda pricey, and he would like something cheeper, but still use the pro tools software. I mentioned to him a motu 828 (cause I own one and have had good results with it I use sonar though) but I am not sure if it Pro Tools would recognize it as an input.

Nope don't think so. The digi 001 is only $100 more than the motu 828. You can probably get around 300 or more for the Mbox so then you're down to 500 for the 001.

This is why I "hate" Digidesign, they force you to use their hardware, you can`t even edit your songs without the HW connected.......
