Hi-
Someone just gave me an old amp and I want some info. It is a Gibson amp built in Kalamazoo Mich., I think before the 70's (I'm not sure though) It is tweed, and it is about 11 1/2 in. tall. The speaker is 6x4in. and is made by Ultrasonic. It is a tube amp there should be 3 tubes, but I don't have any of them. On the back are 2 inputs, a volume knob, a fuse, an on/off switch and a light. It says Gibson Inc. Kalamazoo Mich. Les Paul Jr and 9035 is stamped into the metal. I wish I had a digital camera! I doubt anyone can help me, but I figured I should try! Thanks!

Schematics

My copy of the Tube Amp Book(mine is Vol 3) shows a fairly crude schematic for a 'Les Paul Jr' on page 517 that fits the bill. The tubes are a 6V6(output), 5Y3(full-wave? rectifier) and 6SJ7(amplifier). It appears to be very similar to the GA-5, on page 504. This is also in my 1971 Jack Darr 'Electric Guitar Amplifier Handbook'. The GA-5 has 2 inputs, volume control, fuse & light also and uses a 5Y3 and 6V6 but has a 12AX7 dual purpose amplifier tube. If it's tweed I think it's older than mid-sixties.

gibs, what the first web site you reference above? I can get to the page you've marked, but I can't navigate from there. I have a mid-60's Gibson Vanguard(GA77-RET) that I'd like to ask some questions about.

Thanks!

The GA-5 amp was a Skylark.
