hi,

i have nuendo (=cubase) and use the ivory piano sampler in it. I would like to buy digital sheet music that I can open up in cubase and read while i play the piano sampler.

Sheet music that comes in pdf format I can't use, because I can't look at the pdf screen and run ivory through nuendo (nuendo window has to be open to run the piano).

Does anyone know if there is a format you can get digital sheet music in (or convert pdfs to) that will open inside nuendo? Or even better, is there a way to keep the ivory sounding while having the pdf open in full view, i.e. while nuendo is minimized?

many thanks!

In your devices menu under drivers, there should be a box that says something like "release driver(s) in background." Uncheck that.

hi, thanks for the reply.

i've tried that already and unfortunately it doesnt work - the sound from any vst instrument cuts out immediately when the nuendo window is minimized...

there must be some way around this!

i just wish i knew.... any more suggestions?

cheers

Contact Steinberg tech support......

I am 110% sure that making sure the "release asio driver in background" is OFF, Cubase (2 or 3, but most likely all steinberg products) fixes your problem. Are you absolutely sure you've ruled this out? I use it for your exact purpose quite a lot.

I know in SX2 there is a setting in preferences that allows to keep program running when minimized. ( or not in focus)

This is true, Halion and Vspace are correct

Are you trying to run Nuendo and Cubase at the same time?

I think he wants to be able to read sheet music in PDF format in Adobe while he plays his VST instruments I come to the conclusion for what he wants to do cannot be done, You cannot do an "always on top" for Adobe so when he goes to play the instument in Nuendo it minimizes the Adobe screen where he cant read the music, unless he has two monitors then he can split it so the Adobe screen stays on the other monitor alone than It will never go away but with a single screen this wont work. I suggest just printing out the music and doing it that way

hi guys thanks for the replies - been away a few days...

the best i could think of was having nuendo open as a small strip window and adobe beneath it, but adobe cant be selected quickly for page turning without the vst cutting out...

carter i think you're right - it's not possible :(

seems rather silly that it's not possible though... is there any chance of opening pdf scores in nuendo score editor or can sheet music be found electronically in a format score editor can open and display?

This software is suspose to be able to scan your sheet music and upload it into your Cubase or whatever, kind of expensive but it will do what you asked for.

That's not bad compared to the cost of Nuendo.
Assuming you paid for a Nuendo license. Again, if I were him, AND I had a valid license, I'd be asking Steinberg.

Why would you ask Steinberg? it is obvious that Nuendo and Cubase does not have this feature in the software so quit crying, you just wanted to accuse this person of pirating Nuendo so you had to throw in "if I were him, AND I had a valid license, I'd be asking Steinberg" what a PUD! get over it! ;)

You don't know that for sure, and *I* don't know that for sure. I would ask Steinberg. It is the first thing I do when I have questions such as this.

And yes, I don't believe he has a license, and I'll call him on it. So quit YOUR crying.

How many MORE people are you going to say this too? I have seen it way too often. if it is obvious the person has cracked software then flame away, Im surprised that you havent accused me of having a cracked version of waves plug-ins cause they cost more than 3 grand. some people take the plung and buy high ticket items with no knowledge. all Im saying is take a chill pill and dont accuse unless you know what you are talking about!

Carry on.........

I will say it to whoever the hell I believe has cracked software.

And who the fuck buys $1500 software without knowing what they are buying? Nobody.
