a total newbie here go ahead flame me!
ok it is down to

Samson resolv65a
or
Behringer TRUTHS:

thats it... no other choice ....period.

which poison would you pick? one of the above has got to be better than a cheap pair of radio shack head phones that i am currently using.

10x11x8 foot room
2 IN. convaluted foam covering 70% of the walls
wall to wall carpet
popcorn celling

i home record for the fun of it!
demos for my popcover band
and a few original tunes that i want to pass on to my kids so the grand children might say gramps was kind of a cool old fart.
i do not ever expect to be one of the beatles
or produce dark side of the moon

alright some of us are proud to be from humble resorces

I have the resolv 65a and like them, but I've heard the behringer truths have actually gotten some good reviews.

Sorry I guess I'm not that much help..:)

They are both equal in quality and sound. They might even be made in the same factory in China. I would find out who will give you the best support for parts and service and go with them.

Hey Massive - Just curious as to why you like the truths better ?

Thanks

i also own resolv 65as i love the hell out of them....i wasnt sure when i heard them in the store but it was the one set that hadnt been jeered too much on opinion polls... my room is 8 1/2 x 11 so when these things come on...i hear everything....i went back and started pulling out old cds and listening to them over again. there is a 10" subwoofer that can be added to the monitors but i havent needed it yet....bass is clear and tight. I'd buy another pair if i had 300. Pop, alternative, rap, hardcore screaming shit....all the mixes i've done have been accurate to the point where i havent bothered with as many reference playback devices (I.E. home theater, factory car stereo, car stereo with subwoofer system, discman, and the boombox thats in the bathroom for singing in the shower) after mixing down i just take it to a friends car stereo and we take a listen.

Essentially, they didn't score really high in the shootout, but they did score better than all of the smaller woofer monitors in that particular shootout. Can't remember them all... BX5's, 65a's, M1a's...

That being said, there were no subs - If you're planning on running a sub, BX5's or 65a's probably would sound cleaner in the long haul.

I guess it's a good thing I'm using a sub ! :)

Am I the only one who noticed the witty title of this thread.

"RESOLVE THE TRUTH" he said. Now that's funny:D

Would have been nice if you would have considered the Yorkville YSM1P's in your choices. Excellent quality and sonic attributes for the money ($400 US). I must repeat this...
