Hey man

First impressions (although I'm oh headphones not my broken monitors...) Too much bass, nice tone just too much. Also I can hardly hear a word! I don't think it needs any more compression just lift the levels.... Are you the singer? are you shy??

Sounds like a great performance throughout otherwise.

How were the guitars recorded? They sound DI'd and then effected (could just be teh mp3 conversion though).

Nice tune.

The guitars were recorded using a VHT Ultra lead into a Mesa Rectifier cab through a Sure 58 Beta a Groove tube brick into a Digi002. zero effects. I am not sure why you are not hearing the singer he sound plenty loud and clear on my system? I know I need to do some panning and stereo verb. Also maybe cut some low freq on the Bass and Bass drum.

A pretty good start.

I, too, can't really hear the vocals well enough. Could you run them through a compressor or boost the volume a bit?

I like the guitar sound, very raw. It could still benefit from a bit of softening, maybe a deesser to clean up some of the gritty 8-16k clicking, that should make them a bit warmer too and you could boost them up 1-2db more.

You have a fat bass track to work with, which sounds pretty good, but roll it off between 90-120hz and see how that plays for you.

Hey thanks for the complement. I am very pleased with the guitar sound. As you noted very raw which I also like. I just bought the VHT head Ultra Lead head and am extreamlly impressed with it. It has a very powerfull and defined sound. not at all like the mesa mush you hear all the time. I think one of my problems is I am mixing this using headphones. I have a cheap pair of Bx5 monitors and 1 of the transformers has gone bad (2nd time "very poor product) and is making a god awfull buzzing sound. I think I am really going to have to get some good monitors to be able to mix properly. The vocals are loud enough in my headphones but must sound different on your systems. You are not the only one's to say the vocals are not loud enough. What are you listening on? What would you suggest as resonable monitor's buy? Do you think powered monitors are the way to go. I have a complete PA system with a crown 2000 amp. Would it be better to use this amp with really good speakers?
