Can you check if you need a power conditioner?

Hey guys. First thread on here.

I'm getting a bit too much static when recording through a USB mic, through the microphone socket and through my amp prior to recording. I'm thinking that I have 'dirty power', which is just basically too much interference with the mains that I'm powering my laptop, amp etc on. 2 questions:
A. Does a power conditioner work for removing static when recording audio?
B. Is there a way to check if it's the power supply causing the static?

Probably a heavily asked question, but according to Google it seems that power conditioners don't work, and I have no clue what else can be causing the static.

A. Maybe. Maybe not.

B. Yeah, ditch the power cord and do some takes with only the battery of the laptop providing power using the USB mic.

Recording through a USB mic, pretty much puts you at a limited quality experience. It in itself, and the fact that it is using a sound card, that is not really worthy of giving much 'quality', is likely the culprit. Dirty power, is the least of your issues IMO.

Google 'why USB mics sound like crap'.

You should give a whole lot more information, as to what your setup actually is. Vague, generalized questions, will typically return, vague, generalized answers. As seen by my above post. lol

I will help in any way I can CV. Welcome to the forum. :)

Simplest thing is to just try a different outlet on a different circuit, plus it is always good to have a battery backup unit it keeps things cleaner and if there is a problem you don't lose everything.
