Can the girlfriends PC laptop handle recording?

I've never dealt much with PC based computer recording...my old setup used a macbook, and I only assumed it worked because it was fairly new. Here's what I can find to tell you about it...if something else is important to know, I'll try and find it.

Sony Vaio...can't find an actual model number for it.
Vista
Intel Centrino Duo
The T700 @ 2.00 Ghz seemed like it might be pertinet.
Ram says 2038 MB
The hard drive has 56.7 GB free of 106 GB total.

Anything else you need to know? If it can handle it, any recommendations for an 4 channel interface with 4 mic pres?

It could do some recording. Nothing too advanced though. Any firewire port?

If configured correctly (i.e. dedicated recording computer, minimise the background processes) it would be reasonable. Depends what kind of production you want to do on it.
