can the Adobe Audition record in 24bit?

I just started using adobe audtion. My sound card is a terratec dmx6fire card. The settings in Adobe Audition allow for 32bit or 16 bit recording. When I select 32 bit I can't record. I guess in a nutshell my question is as follows.

Should I record through adobe audition to try and achieve 24-bit or is there some other proprietory recording device for the pc that I should be using?

I would appreciate any helpful response

Thanks

Brandon

Yes, CEP/AA records in 24bit. There's no such thing as recording in 32bit, actually...it's just shorthand for 32-bit float...it's a math thing.

If it's recording in 16bit but not in 32, then you might twiddle around with the Device Property settings. I can't be more specific unless I know exactly what it's doing, and even then, I still suck.

Thanks for your reply. I think that you got me in the ballpark. I guess its just a matter of dicking around with the settings and making notes as to what works and when it works.

I don't know what I did but I have everything working fine now. I think that I had a setting on my sound card wrong.

Sweet. Just goes to prove my theory that 10 seconds of mashing on the keyboard usually does you as much good as 3 years of technical school, lol. :D
