can sonar 8.5 and X1 exist happily on the same machine?

I don't know? Give it a try and let us know.

I do know that X1 will open projects I did with 8.5.
 
Yeah they can exist, but a project saved on X1 will not open on 8.53 due to the different features on x1
 
Correction: it WILL open on an 8.5 installation but you'll get a warning about certain features not being available
 
X1 and 8.5 got along great on my computer for over a year, til I got pihar b and wiped the drive and then just reinstalled X1.
