Can someone state what the difference between MIDI 0 and 1 is?

Thanks.

If memory serves correctly:

Midi 0: stores all channels in one track, as in if you open a MIDI0 file in a sequenser, all the notes would be on track 1. The notes refers channels and instrument used to play that note (and of course volume, pan, velocity, etc).

Midi 1: stores one channel on one track, as in if you open a MIDI1 file in a sequenser, track 1 would use channel 1 etc.

moskus's memory serves him corredctly indeed.

One more thing to add is that "when you load a MIDI Format 0 file, SONAR splits it into 16 separate tracks, based on the MIDI channels assigned to each event." (from the SONAR help system.) So the differences between files types might not be so obvious when you just open ones of different types if you're using a Cakewalk product.
