I downloaded a couple of free VST plugins and when I try to open them my computer says "to open this file windows needs to know what program created it". Anyone know what the next step is? Also they are ZIP files...I just right click and "extract files" right? Or do I need a program like Winzip? Oh and I`m using Adobe Audition.

nevermind. I just noticed you said you were using audition

I use Cubase 5 and have never used Audition but I have d/l free vst's and usually there is a file that doesnt actually run or install - you have to actually paste or move it into the vst plugins (or whatever - it's been a while since I've done it) folder located within the program.

Otherwise.... I dont know.

Some VSTs come with installers, but they're usually just the DLL files that you drop straight into your VST folder (wherever that is located and you have your DAW set up to search).
