Hey All,
My band plays live to backing tracks. we have live drums and i like the bass booming on stage. our last tour was full of problems because i used a gemini cdj-20 cd player which boasts 40 sec of anti-skip....well some nights the thing shipped all over the place, depending on the stage and bass in da place.
Anyhow, i have to try somehting new..i was thinking about the tascam MD player it has xlr outs and that cool cue function. i dont want to use dat , ive done it before, dont like the wind time.
so do those things skip like a cd does?
Any help or other ideas are appreciated.

Steve

Sure, minidiscs can skip,...

but they're a little less susceptible to skipping than cd players, due to the smaller size and relatively smaller mass of the head mechanism and related mechanics. It's all relative, but given enough vibration, they can skip. It probably bears out some field testing for comparison. Otherwise, the Tascam minidisc deck should be a good purchase, on it's own merits. ;)

I'd mount it on some foam too, in a road case or whatever, I play in a very very loud band and everything vibtates off it's shelf in our jam room. So I'm thinkin vibration from the floor up is a main concern.
