can i use guitar compressor on snare?

i have a multi effects processor for my guitar and were trying to get a good sound from the drums cause everything else sounds good but the drums...i have no effects to use on mics. i want to add compression, gate, and some reverb on our snare...but the only compression, gate, and reverb i have is on a guitar processor....could i run the mic in this with it set properly and then run that into the channel on the mixer? will this work? ive never had any effects particularly made for mics so i dont know what thats all about...

Yes you can do that. Actually I did an experiment with a DOD TEC4X effects pedal. I put on some reverb, and... well it worked, but not very high quality. You can pretty much run anything into one of those and get a resaut of some sort. It's fun to plug a mic in and play with the effects, the pitch shifter makes you sound like satan lol.

Yeah, sure it will work... A compressor is a compressor.....Sort of.

Now, of course It's not going to sound like a Joe Meek or a Drawmer.. but if it's all you have, it will do the job..

You can also try some distortion or overdrive on the snare as well!
I used to do it all the time when I had an A.R.T. SGE mkII. I used gate compression, a little reverb, and distortion when I was tracking the snare. After my SGE finally died, I stopped, but I'm thinking about looking for another unit similar to it just for that purpose for really aggressive stuff.

Think about it....a Snare is essentially "White Noise", and the distortion just adds to it. I've read that some pro's began tracking all their drumtracks with distortion when they began using digital because it added an edge to the drums that reminded them of Analog recording.
