Hey!

I have an Alesis RA-150 amp.

Each channel has two types of inputs: a 1/4" TRS input and a line level RCA input.

I have a motu 828 MKII from which the main outs go into the TRS inputs on the amp.
From my computers onboard soundcard i have a single mini jack output, that has 2 RCA connections which i would like to go into the amp also. However if i have both my computers connection and my motu's connection in the amp at the same time, i get no sound, which i can understand.

But i would like to know if there is a possbile way to "share" the amp without having to unplug the connection im not using just to get sound?

I use the computers onboard sound for general playback, ie dvd's, mp3's, etc.
Obviously i use the motu for recording only.

I have tried to make my MOTU the computers main soundcard, but under control panel - Audio there is no option to change from my onboard soundcard.

Any help is appreciated!

Did you install the WDM drivers for the MOTU? I have the mkI, and it lets me select it as the windows audio device. Just make sure you have the WDM drivers installed, and I don't see why it wouldn't work.

:)

hey man thanks for your reply.

Well i installed the cd that came with the motu, so i assume i did. I've checked the audio drivers installed and it says i have the

VIA AC'97 Audio controller (WDM) installed. This is my onboard soundcard. I dont think it said WDM before i installed the MOTU.

Is there a certain way to install the WDM drivers from the ones i have installed, or are they the WDM drivers?

Thankyou!

This may sound stupid, and you have probably already tried it, but was the MOTU powered on and connected when you tried to switch the audio device from your built-in audio to the MOTU? When I don't have the MOTU powered on and connected the drivers don't show up as a choice. Just something I was thinking about, even though that is probably not it. If I think of anything else, I will let you know.

:D

I dont know about the motu but other audio interfaces dont work with other audio cards. try disabling the onboard card in the bios. that way your motu is the only audio device.
