Can I use a DAT as an AD Convertor?

Hi folks,

I've recently aquired some pretty exciting analog gear from a TV station, and I'm trying to put them together into a decent spare-room rig.

Amongst the gear I bought is a Tascam DA 30 DAT machine. Does anyone know if I can use the AD/DA conversion capabilities of the DA30 to get my analog signal into a PC?

Any thoughts on the quality of the DA30's conversion technology?

You can use it for AD, all you have to do is hit the record button and it will pass the audio through.

The converters are 16 bit and not very good, even for 1993 technology.
